As a fashion brand, our goal is to produce only high-quality products that can be used for years, and to be responsible users of our planet’s resources. To make sure that we meet our excellent quality standards, every bag has a one-year warranty.
But like all good things in life, your bag does need a bit of tender loving care.
Here’s how to look after your bag, so that it remains in good condition for years to come.
Our main collections feature premium and vintage style leather bags. Whereas the bags in our premium collection are made of sleek leather, our vintage style bags are made of vegetable tanned leather that requires more attention when it comes to leather care.
Leathercare for Vintage Style Bags
Vegetable tanned leather is the oldest form of leather tanning in the world. It’s incredibly durable and eco-friendly. With the correct care, this kind of leather can last for decades.
It’s important to use proper leather care products, such as beeswax-based leather balms or water-resistant sprays every few months. Apply your chosen product with a lint-free cloth and rub it softly in circles.
Once a year, we recommend a full leather cleaning to remove any accumulated dirt, and to refresh and replenish the leather. Full leather cleaning can be done by using leather conditioner or leather cleaning kits.
You can easily find suitable leather care products online or at supermarkets. When choosing your product, it’s important to keep in mind that all Berliner Bags products are made of smooth leather.
It’s normal for leather to have a specific smell. Sometimes, new leather bags can have a stronger smell. This happens because leather is a natural product. In order to tackle this, you should hang your bag outside and air it. Regularly using your new bag also helps to remove unwanted smells. If this does not help, put folded paper or a scented bag inside the bag and change it every few days until the smell disappears.
